The official website of the upcoming 26th feature film of Detective Conan, titled Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine, dropped a new key visual on Feb 1, 2023. The visual depicts Conan side, comprising of detectives, FBI and police, vs the Black side comprising of the main antagonist, the Black Organisation.
The tagline of the visual reads, “The ocean battle royale, a desperate mystery battle finally begins!
Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine is set to hit the Japanese theatres on April 14, 2023. Prior to the release of this film, a compilation film Haibara Ai Monogatari ~Kurogane no Mystery Train~ will be released on Jan 6, 2023.
The film is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, with Takeharu Sakurai handling the screenplay. Yugo Kanno is in charge of composing the music for the film.
The plot of the film is described as:
This time, the stage is set in the waters around Hachijo-jima, Tokyo. Engineers from around the world have gathered for the full-scale operation of “Pacific Buoy,” an offshore facility to connect security cameras owned by police forces around the world. There, a test of a certain “new technology” based on a face recognition system is underway. Meanwhile, Conan, who visited Hachijo-jima Island with the Detective Boys at Sonoko’s invitation, received a phone call from Subaru Okiya (a graduate student of the Graduate School of Engineering at Tokyo Metropolitan University who is also an FBI agent, Shuichi Akai, and a member of a black-ops organization, Rai) informing him that a Europol employee was murdered in Germany by a black-ops organization, Jin. Conan, who is disquieted, sneaks into the facility and finds that a female engineer has been kidnapped by a black-ops organization…! Furthermore, a USB drive containing certain information in her possession ends up in the hands of the organization….
The 25th film, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween was released on April 15, 2022, debuting at no. 1 in its first weekend, with a sell of about 1,321,944 tickets in its first three days. It had earned more than 7.5 Billion yen in 31 days after its release on April 15.
Twenty-five feature films based on the Case Closed series have been released. They are animated by TMS Entertainment and produced by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, Nippon Television, ShoPro, and Toho. The first seven were directed by Kenji Kodama, films 8–14 were directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, films 15-21 were directed by Kobun Shizuno, film 22 was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, films 23 and 24 were directed by Chika Nagaoka, and film 25 was directed by Susumu Mitsunaka.
Detective Conan, is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since January 1994, with its chapters collected in 102 tankōbon volumes as of September 2022.
Due to legal problems with the name Detective Conan, the English language releases from Funimation and Viz were renamed to Case Closed.
The anime version of Case Closed is produced by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment. Over 1000 episodes have aired in Japan since the anime’s premiere on January 8, 1996, making it the fifteenth longest anime series to date.
