A new stage adaptation of Chainsaw Man has been announced, titled “CHAINSAW MAN THE STAGE Reze Arc,” scheduled to run from July to August 2026. The production marks the second stage adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s hit manga.
The play follows the first Chainsaw Man stage production, which ran from September to October 2023 in Tokyo and Kyoto.
Four main cast members from the original stage play are confirmed to return. Naotake Tsuchiya will once again portray Denji, joined by Mizuki Umezu as Aki Hayakawa, Mahiru Koda as Power, and Aya Hirano as Makima.
The creative team behind the first stage play is also returning for the sequel. Fumiya Matsuzaki will once again handle scriptwriting and direction, with music composed by Shunsuke Wada and choreography by HIDALI.

Earlier this year, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc was adapted into an anime film that premiered in Japan and went on to become a major box office success.
Set against that backdrop, expectations are high for how the arc will translate to live theater. Unlike the first stage production, which focused on establishing the world and core characters, the Reze Arc centers on Denji’s growing emotional vulnerability and the consequences of his desire for a normal life.
In comments released alongside the announcement, Tsuchiya said he was eager to return to the role of Denji, noting that the Reze Arc represents a major turning point for the character. Other cast members also shared their thoughts on returning to the production.
Checkout the comments below:
Naotake Tsuchiya (Denji):
“I’m truly happy to be able to bring Chainsaw Man: The Stage back to everyone and to continue playing Denji in this sequel. With the Reze Arc receiving such enormous attention everywhere, just imagining once again experiencing the excitement and stage-specific expression I felt during the first production makes me want to perform as soon as possible. The Reze Arc is filled with encounters and events that mark major turning points for Denji, and I want to portray him with care—while still letting him go a little wild. The entire company will work hard to make this reach as many people as possible, and I sincerely appreciate your support.”
Mizuki Umezu (Aki):
“Two years have passed since the previous production. Being able to throw myself back into that same intensity again gives me chills. When I close one eye, I can still see countless devils behind my eyelids, and I can almost feel the tremors of that massive rotating stage set. I’m trembling just thinking about it. My only regret is that I cut my hair without thinking—but I’ll have it ready by opening night.”
Mahiru Koda (Power):
“This was my very first stage production, so being able to return for the sequel to such a meaningful work truly makes me happy from the bottom of my heart. Of course, I’m excited to spend time as Power again, but I’m also really looking forward to sharing that world once more with everyone experiencing it. I hope you’ll look forward to our version of Chainsaw Man: The Stage.”
Aya Hirano (Makima):
“Two years have passed since the original production, and now that the theatrical anime has become a global smash hit, I’m very happy to be able to share news of a new stage production—and to return to this world once again. When we first performed it, it was my first time appearing in a 2.5D stage production, and I was deeply inspired by the company’s mindset of ‘bringing about a revolution in 2.5D theater.’ With new characters joining in the Reze Arc, I want to keep that original spirit alive and help lead a bold, creative production as Makima. In many ways, this is a story that tests Makima’s presence within Denji’s heart. I’ll observe calmly—while advancing aggressively.”
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has earned over USD 179 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Japanese films of all time.
The film has also been listed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of the titles eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
