Chainsaw Man Manga Gets Stage Play Adaptation In 2023

After the completion of the anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga, a new project was announced for the franchise on Dec 29, 2022.

Chainsaw Man is getting adapted into a stage play, which will be performed from September- October 2023 in Tokyo and Kyoto. The adaptation is titled “Chainsaw Man The Stage“.

A teaser visual was also revealed to commemorate the announcement.

A new website was launched for the adaptation where all the latest updates will be posted.

It was also revealed that Fumiya Matsuzaki, known for directing ‘BANANA FISH The Stage,’ will be in charge of script and directing the the stage play.

More information regarding cast and staff are yet to be revealed.

Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Its first part was serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020; its second part began serialization in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online magazine in July 2022. Its chapters have been collected in 12 tankobon volumes as of October 2022.

In North America, the manga is licensed in English by Viz Media, for both print and digital release, and it is also published by Shueisha on the Manga Plus online platform.

An anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA was broadcast from October to December 2022.

As of November 2022, the manga had over 20 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series. In 2021, it won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category and won the Harvey Awards in the Best Manga category in 2021 and 2022.
