Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5 To Release In July 2023; New Trailer Revealed

Following the broadcast of the final episode of Bungo Stray Dogs season 4 on March 29, 2023, the official Twitter account announced that the anime will be returning for a fifth season.

A new trailer revealing the release date was released along with the announcement.

Bungo Stray Dogs season 5 will release in July 2023.

To commemorate the announcement, a new key visual illustrated by the character designer Nobuhiro Arai was also unveiled.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 aired from Jan 4, 2023, to March 29, 2023.

Takuya Igarashi directed the season with Yoji Enokido serving as the script writer. Nobuhiro Arai and Yumiko Kondo were in charge of character designs and art director respectively. BONES is in charge of the animation.

Original author Kafka Asagiri also worked closely on Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4.

The first television anime adaptation aired from April to June 2016. The anime’s second 12-episode series aired from October to December 2016. Funimation and Crunchyroll released the series on home video with an English dub last March. The anime’s third season premiered in April 2019.

An anime film, titled Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple, opened in Japan in March 2018. A spin-off series titled Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! also aired earlier this year. Yen Press releases both the manga and light novel adaptations in English.

Bungo Stray Dogs is a Japanese manga series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Young Ace since 2012.

As of 4 March 2022 twenty-two volumes have been released.

The series has been licensed for North America by Yen Press with the first volume being released on 20 Dec 2016. The English translation is by Kevin Gifford. As of October 2021, twenty volumes have been published.

spin-off manga centered around Dazai and Chuya’s backstories titled, Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chuuya, Age Fifteen, began serialization in Monthly Shōnen Ace in July 2022.

Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the “Armed Detective Agency” said to solve incidents that even the military and police won’t touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that’s been terrorizing the population…
