The official twitter account of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime revealed on July 19, 2022, that the series would be starting a new arc in August 2022. The arc is titled ‘Kawaki: Himawari Ninja School’ and will kick-off from episode 261 of the anime.
The arc is an anime original arc and will center on Kawaki and Himawari and their Ninja School adventures.
A new key visual for the arc drawn by manga illustrator Mikeo Ikemoto was also released to commemorate the announcement.
New characters who will features in the new arc of Boruto, their character designs and their voice actors were also released on the official Twitter account. The new cast members are;
- Takuto Yoshinaga as Eiki Fuma.
- Inori Minase as Kae Yukiwari.
- And Rina Hidaka as Osuka Kamakura
The previously announced cast members for the anime include:
- Uchida Yuma as Kawaki
- Saori Hayami as Himawari
It is rumored that Boruto anime will adapt the Code arc at the beginning of 2023. The Code arc is currently ongoing in the manga.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga was previously written by Ukyo Kodachi and illustrated by Mikeo Ikemoto, with Masashi Kishimoto serving as an editorial supervisor. Kishimoto later took over the writing duties from Kodachi in November 2020.
The manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2016 and was transferred to Shueisha’s monthly magazine, V Jump, in July 2019.
An anime television series adaptation by Studio Pierrot started airing on TV Tokyo on 5 April 2017. Unlike the manga, which began as a retelling of the Boruto film, the anime begins as a prequel set before Boruto and his friends become ninjas in a later story arc.
A series of light novels have also been written for Boruto.
