The POS tracking giant, NPD BookScan, released the monthly Top 20 Adult Graphic Novels list for May 2022, in which Tatsuya Endo‘s Spy x Family Volume 1 took the top spot.  The series also took the most spots, with six of the seven volumes released in the Top 20.

Japanese manga took 19 spots while Korean manhwa took 1 spot in the United States.

In addition, the bestseller list for The New York Times’ Graphic Books and Manga also featured Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family manga, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata‘s Death Note Short Stories manga, and Korean webtoon Solo Leveling by Chugong, all of which ranked in the early June 2022 top 15 releases.

At the time of writing, the rankings of these mangas are as follows:

• 1st volume of Spy x Family ranked at #4
•  Death Note Short Stories ranked at #12
• Solo Leveling ranked at #15

In January 2022, a total of 10 out of 15 spots was occupied by manga, with Tatsuki Fujimoto‘s Chainsaw Man placing itself in four spots alone.

However, in February, March, and April all 20 spots were occupied by Japanese manga itself.

In October 2019, the New York Times published its first new Graphic Books & Manga bestselling list.
