The animation business wing of Namco Bandai Group, Namco Bandai Filmworks, recently invested in Anima Studio. Anime is one of the leading CG animation studio in Japan. The investment happened on October 3, 2022 however the amount and ratio of investment are still undisclosed.
Anima wished to establish high quality and speedy CG production system. Along with that it aims to create high quality original works by combining full CG animation technology and hand-drawn animation which is Sunrise’s strong point.
Anima, established in 1997, has two studios in Tokyo and Kanazawa with about 130 people in their team.
The studio has been involved in the live scenes of the popular “Love Live! School Idol Festival”.
Anima recently sold its stake in TIA to TOHO animation Studio, which acquired TIA in a three way joint venture with Toho and Dolphin.
BANDAI FILM WORKS has anime studios SUNRISE, NAMCO BANDAI PICTURES, SUNRISE BEYOND, and Actus under its umbrella. In addition to this, the former Sunrise invested in CG animation company Sublimation in 2018, and the former Bandai Namco Arts formed a business alliance with Eight Bit in 2020. The company is strengthening its production system with inside and outside of the group.
