Bakugo Crowned ‘THE MHA’ In Final Round Of World Popularity Poll; Commemorative Statue Announced

The results of the final stage of My Hero Academia‘s global popularity poll, titled ‘WORLD BEST HERO’ – PLUS ULTRA STAGE were revealed on Dec 3, 2024, through a video posted on Shonen Jump’s official YouTube channel.

Katsuki Bakugo has been crowned ‘THE MHA‘ after securing the top spot in the final round of the global popularity poll. Deku came in at the second place, with Todoroki taking the third spot.

To commemorate his victory, a bronze statue of Bakugo will be created, based on a new illustration by series creator Kohei Horikoshi.

The statue is set to be exhibited in Japan in 2025, with further details to be announced.

The global popularity poll was conducted in two stages:

Main Stage (August 5 – September 30, 2024):

Fans from across the globe voted for their favorite My Hero Academia characters, with the results revealed on December 2, 2024. The Main Stage recorded 6.12 million votes, with 1.31 million coming from North America, 740,000 from Asia, and 680,000 from Europe. The character with the most votes in this round was awarded the title of ‘WORLD BEST HERO.’

Bakugo claimed the top spot in this stage, followed by Izuku Midoriya (Deku) in second place and Shoto Todoroki in third.

  3. Shoto Todoroki
  4. Eraser Head (Shota Aizawa)
  5. Red Riot (Eijiro Kirishima)

  7. Hawks (Keigo Takami)
  8. Dabi
  9. Tomura Shigaraki
  10. Phantom Thief

All Might came in at the 12th place in the overall rankings.

PLUS ULTRA Stage (December 2 – December 3, 2024):

The top three characters from the Main Stage—Bakugo, Deku, and Shoto—advanced to the PLUS ULTRA Stage. During this final 24-hour voting period, fans selected their ultimate favorite character.

Kohei Horikoshi started serializing the manga in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014. Its chapters have been collected in 41 tankobon volumes as of August 2024.

The series has numerous spin-off manga, including My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.
