Just like all major industries, anime industry was also hit hard by the Covid19 pandemic. The section within anime industry that was hit the hardest was the Anime-Music industry. The anime music industry relied heavily on live concerts, voice actors focusing on anime songs. According to survey by PIA research institute, the anime music industry was worth 24.5 billion yen in 2019, which dipped to 4.1 billion yen in 2020 during the early stages of Corona. The dip was due to mass cancellations, postponements and restrictions on events.
However, the situation for the anime music industry was still difficult in 2021 since there were still restrictions on the number of people that can attend an event.
The anime music industry has grown rapidly since 2013, where it earned 7.2 billion yen to 15.8 billion yen in 2015, 20 billion in 2018, and 24.5 billion yen in 2019.
