Anime Industry Pulls Off Quirky Pranks On April Fool’s Day 2023

April 1 or better known around the world as the April Fool’s Day, is that one day on which the anime industry loosens up and celebrates religiously by pulling off some of the most interesting pranks on the fans worldwide.

If you’re someone who has been deceived by the tempting announcements by some of your most favourite franchise on April 1 then you’re not alone.

We have compiled here the most interesting April Fool’s Day Prank of 2023 pulled off by the industry. Check them out below:

  1. Yuru Camp

Starting off with Yuru Camp, the official Twitter account account announced that the Yamanashi Prefecture has been renamed as Camping Prefecture for a day, with Rin Shima appointed as the governor for a day.

2. Re:Zero

Re:Zero announced a Spinoff anime for Rem and Ram, where they will get reincarnated as magical girls in another world. It is titled Re:Life In A Wizard Girl From Zero. They even went to the lengths of creating a special website for the anime.

3. Overlord x The Eminence In Shadow

Overlord: Ple Ple Pleiades teamed up with The Eminence In Shadow to create a spinoff anime. In the visual Ainz Ooal Gown and Cid Kagenou can be seen with their powers interchanged. It also revealed that the anime will air on April 2138, ultimately revealing that it was an April Fool’s prank.

4. Bleach

Bleach‘s official Twitter account announced a new simulator game for the franchise titled Bleach: The Highschool Warfare. The game was created compiling the illustration collection from Bleach Jet artbook.

A new visual was also revealed. The story follows four passionate men who put their beliefs and pride on the line at Gotei High School. To take things up a notch, they also dropped a link where the fans can checkout the gameplay.

Not to be a snitch, but Viz Media was in on it too.

5. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear has decided to exclusively transform itself to a bunny on April Fool’s day, changing the name of the franchise to “Usa Usa Usa Bunny!“.

6. Mashle

Official Twitter account of Mashle dropped a new key visual featuring Mash Burnhead, Finn Ames, Lance Crown, Dot Barrett, and Lemon Irvine, but with a twist. The hairstyles of all the aforementioned characters have been changed to that of Mash’s.

“Mash Hair will change the world,” they tweeted.

7. Kuroko’s Basketball

The staff have taken to Twitter to reveal a new visual where the main characters have been turned to Yokai, supernatural entities in Japanese folklores.

8. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses

Official Twitter handle of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses anime announced a new spinoff project where Ai Mie turned to a mecha, titled My Favorite Girl Became a Mecha, hyping up the excitement of fans.

In a next thread, however, they revealed that they created the spinoff solely for the sake of April Fool’s day.

To everyone who has been looking forward to “My favorite girl became a mecha”! Project “#LikedMecha” was created as an #AprilFools joke and was frozen on the same day.

9. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

The Angle Next Door Spoils Me Rotten announced the franchise’s first game adaptation. The adaptation was revealed to be a dating simulation featuring an Angel and a Devil, giving the players the choice to choose whom to get spoiled by, and both of them were up to no good.

The staff then shattered the dreams of many by revealing that it was an April Fool’s prank.
