The official Twitter account and website for Anime Expo announced in a press release on June 9, 2022, that it has re-updated its Health and Safety Protocols standards and made a concluding decision to reinstate previous COVID-19 policies as declared in December 2021.
The reestablished policies on the Health & Safety page include proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in addition to mask/face coverings for entry. The negative test is required to be taken within 72 hours of the convention.
The AX 2022 website wrote, “We have reinstated our previous COVID-19 policy requiring both proof of vaccination (or negative test) and face coverings for entry.
SPJA will be requiring all attendees of AX 2022 to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to attending the event.”
The official page stated the “requirements and guidelines are final”.
Moreover, as mentioned in the previous press release, all attendees while inside the Los Angeles Anime Convention are required to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status. The specifications mention that the coverings should fit snugly and properly, fully covering attendees’ nose and mouth, and secure under the chin.
The 31st Anime Expo will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1-4, 2022. The AX 2022 will be held as an in-person convention.
