The streaming giant Amazon Prime Video has won the distribution right of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime movie. The distribution will start from December 24, 2022.

The movie will be streamed across all countries where the streaming giant is present.

Prime Video already has rights to Shin Evangelion The movie since 2021. It also streams the second season of POPTEPIC and the 4th season of Golden Kamuy.

The platform is focusing on the theatrical movie lineup with Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Crux Doan and Yuru Camp.

The latest box office collections revealed for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie confirmed that it has become the sixth highest grossing anime film worldwide. The movie’s worldwide box office collection crossed $196 million (26.5 billion yen), with over 20 million people flocking to the theatres to watch Yuta and Rika’s story unfold.

Over USD 91 million of this box collection came from the 89 countries and regions overseas where Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie was released.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 pushed Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You to the 7th position as it grabbed the 6th spot. It is also the fourth highest grossing Japanese film of all time in the United States according to Mantan Web.

The title of the highest grossing film in Japan in 2022 belongs to One Piece Film: Red.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, the prequel manga to the main series, Jujutsu Kaisen. It is written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s magazine Jump GIGA from April to July 2017.

Megumi Ogata, Kana Hanazawa, Yuuichi Nakamura, Mikako Komatsu, Tomozaku Seki and Kouki Uchiyama voiced Yuta Okkotsu, Rika Orimoto, Gojo Satoru, Maki Zen’in, Panda and Inumaki Toge respectively in the movie version.

Crunchyroll is currently streaming the movie in Japanese with subs, and also the English dubbed version.

The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to release in 2023.
