Shueisha’s Yoi Platform To Launch Menstruation Themed One-Shots

The goal of the manga platform is to answer why it's so difficult to talk about these topics with friends and family.

Shueisha announced on Wednesday, Jan 19, 2022, that the new original manga platform, “yoi comic” will publish 10 one-shots from various popular manga writers on the theme of menstruation starting this March.

The creators who will contribute one-shots include: Honoka Kinoshita, Ayumi Komura, Mayu Sakai, Zakuri Satō, Masako Shitara, Nanae Haruno, Mizuki Hoshino, Masayo Miyagawa, Mayu Murata, and Wakana Yanai.

The works will be published in collaboration with five of its women’s magazines- Ribon, Margaret, Bessatsu Margaret, Cookie, and Cocohana.

The one shots will aim to touch upon issues such as PMS (premenstrual syndrome) pain and irregular menstruation, mental disorders before and after menstruation, menstrual blood leaks, low-dose pills, gynecological examinations, water-absorbing shorts and menstrual cups.

The one-shots will be available as sequels to past works on the Yoi comic site, while others will be completely original works.

On Wednesday, yoi comic debuted with Chieri Senjō’s 17:3 about a sex ~Watashi-tachi no Real~ manga. The manga is based on AbemaTV’s nine-episode 17.3 sex live-action series, which premiered in September 2020.

Shueisha launched the new manga platform “yoi comic” as part of its yoi media portal. Shueisha created the yoi wellness media site in September 2021 to present works that have “reliable information and entertainment” with the theme of “body, mind, and sex”

The goal of the manga platform is to answer why it’s so difficult to talk about these topics with friends and family.
