NTT Solmare Corp Announces MangaPlaza Digital Service In Spring 2022

The service will feature titles from Kodansha as well as original titles without previous English releases.

NTT Solmare Corp announced on Dec 14, 2021, that, MangaPlaza, a new digital manga and Japanese publication service in the United States will debut in spring 2022. MangaPlaza will feature titles from Kodansha as well as original titles without previous English releases.

The MangaPlaza trial page will launch a pre-registration campaign starting Monday, Jan 24, 2022, where fans can initially access up to 72 hit manga titles (236 content) for free.

The MangaPlaza store will provide a monthly membership plan that will grant access to a library of 10,000 “content” (the press release did not specify if this content means 10,000 titles, chapters, or pages). Readers can also purchase individual content without a subscription for a nominal fee and the plan offers one content for free for the most available titles in the library.

Popular titles such as Attack on Titan, Tokyo Revengers, Chihayafuru, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will be included. The service’s library will cover “action-adventure, romance, comedy, drama, sci-fi/fantasy, and LGBTQA+” titles.

Since the press release on Dec 14, MangaPlaza has begun streaming content mostly exclusive to their platform on their official Youtube channel for free.

NTT Solmare Corp intends to prevent manga piracy by giving fans access to a wider choice of titles on MangaPlaza.

NTT Solmare Corp’s eBook Division Manager, Shinya Sumida stated in regards to the launch, “As a member of the contents industry, we have an important role to play in stopping the circulation of pirated content, with the launch of MangaPlaza, we hope to help bring about change within this industry.”
