The official website of Overlord anime revealed a new visual and promotional video for Overlord IV on Friday, Dec 17, 2021. The anime’s fourth season will premiere in 2022.
The returning cast members include:
- Satoshi Hino as Ains Ooal Gown
- Yumi Hara as Albedo
- Sumire Uesaka as Shalltear Bloodfallen
- Emiri Katō as Aura Bella Fiora
- Masayuki Katou as Demiurge
- Kenta Miyake as Cocytus
The staff members include:
- Director: Naoyuki Itou
- Character draft: so-bin
- Series composition / Screenplay: Yukie Sugawara
- Character design: Satoshi Tasaki
- Animation production: Madhouse
Overlord IV will pick off from where season 3 ended . A film based on the “Holy Kingdom Arc” is also in production.
Kugane Maruyama began the original Overlord light novel series online in 2010, and Kadokawa’s Enterbrain imprint began publishing the series in print with illustrations by so-bin in 2012. Satoshi Shio began the manga adaption, with art by Hugin Miyama, and started serializing in Kadokawa Shoten’s manga magazine, Comp Ace, on Nov 26, 2014.
Maruyama confirmed in the 14th compiled book volume of his original Overlord novel series on March 12 that the series will end with the 17th volume.
The anime television series adaptation by Madhouse consists of 3 seasons with 13 episodes each, with the first season airing from July 7 to Sep 29, 2015. Two compilation anime films recapping the events from the first season were released in Japan on Feb 25, 2017, and March 11, 2017, respectively. The second season ran from Jan 9 to April 3, 2018, and the third season ran from July 10 to Oct 2, 2018.
