Demon Slayer Character Mailboxes Put On Display For New Year At Ikebukuro

Japan Post will also start accepting New Year's cards on Dec 15, 2021.

In collaboration with the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series franchise, Japan Post Co. has put three mailboxes decorated with characters from the series on display throughout Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district on Dec 13, 2021, to usher in the new year.

Each one features different characters from the series accompanied by messages welcoming the year, 2022.

tanjiro

The mailbox featuring the main character, Kamado Tanjiro, is located near Ikebukuro Station in the Minami-Ikebukuro district. It displays a message themed after his character, “Let’s totally concentrate on celebrating the new year!”

rengoku

The one featuring Rengoku Kyojuro, the Fire Hashira, is found at the Toshima post office in the Higashi-Ikebukuro district. The image of the character is accompanied by the quote, “Burn your heart in the new year again!”

Uzui

Finally, the last one, located on the street of the Sunshine 60 skyscraper complex in Higashi-Ikebukuro, features Uzui Tengen, the Sound Hashira, along with the text, “Things will be really flashy next year, too!”

In addition to celebrating the new year, the novel mailboxes also signify the start of acceptance of New Year’s cards on Dec 15, 2021.

Japan Post will offer four New Year’s postcard designs each for Koyoharu Gotouge’s “Demon Slayer” and “Jujutsu Kaisen,” based on Gege Akutami’s manga of the same title from Dec 1, 2021, to Jan 7, 2022. Two of them will feature the animated film “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.”

They will also sell 84-yen (74 cents) stamps themed on Tanjiro Kamado, Kyojuro Rengoku, and other popular characters from the “Demon Slayer” series.

One sheet will contain 15 sticker-type stamps and will be offered at 1,260 yen each. The company will start selling 2 million sheets from Dec 6 at post offices across Japan and its online shopping website.
