Kaguya-sama Author Commented On A Scene From The Anime That They Didn’t Expect To Be Adapted

kaguya sama love is war enters final arc

Aka Akasaka, the genius author of the manga Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen), updated on Twitter commenting on the recent promo video for the anime adaptation’s third season.

The author wrote, “When I was drawing this, I didn’t expect this story would make it to the animation“.

The reason behind Akasaka’s comment is no doubt the promotional video featuring chapter 110, dealing with the theme of anime fans and the “concepts considered strange“; which mocks at the anime industry as a whole.

For example, on the page shared by the author, Chika Fujiwara expresses:

Hey, President! I have a question. The girls in the TG club are anime otaku. I saw a series with them but there are many things that I do not understand. What the heck does “moe” mean? Why are all eyes so big like grade-schoolers? … And yet they have such big breasts? Why are they all talking in a shrill voice?.

This official promo video features the panel shared by the author. (Turn on CC to get the subtitles)

Although in the context of the work it is considered sarcasm (Chika is practically describing herself), some might misinterpret it as a criticism of the industry, which is why Akasaka made the comment.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War-Ultra Romantic-, the third season is currently scheduled to come out April 2022.
