According to rumors that surfaced online, the Fruits Basket franchise will be getting a movie as its new project.

It was earlier confirmed that the series will be returning with the story of Tohru’s parents titled Kyouko to Katsuya no Monogatari ( The Story of Kyoko and Katsuya). This was announced after the final episode of the Fruits Basket anime.

While the format or the length of the animated project was not revealed, leaks have reported that a domain ( https://fruba-movie.jp/ ) has been registered, which could indicate that the story of Tohru’s parents will be made into a movie.

The new project is set to premier in early 2022 Japan. More details about the project can be expected soon, now that domain has been registered.

The final season of Fruits Basket anime premiered in the Spring 2021 slot. It had a total of 13 episodes. The final season even managed to surpass Attack On Titan in rankings during its run.

Fruits Basket is a manga series written and illustrated by author Natsuki Takaya. It tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns about their Zodiac curse and tries to help them break it.

The manga was serialized in in the semi-monthly Japanese shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume, published by Hakusensha, from 1998 to 2006.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of author Natsuki Takaya‘s debut, the official website for the Fruits Basket anime franchise has announced a special exhibition, “Fruits Basket World Exhibition” focusing on the 30 years of the author’s artistist career.
