To commemorate the release of the 99th Volume of Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece “One Piece”, Shueisha released a special AR video set in the east exit station square of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo on June 4.
The special video depicts the battle between the Straw Hat Pirates and the Beasts Pirates led by Kaido, which is currently progressing in the main story of the manga. The special video uses live-action footage of Shinjuku station taken with a drone and illustrations of characters, and a powerful battle unfolds in the city of Shinjuku.
Furthermore, Oda designed modular covers for the three volumes of “ONE PIECE” i.e. volumes 99 to 101 in order to create a single illustration with the three images.
One Piece, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. Shueisha has been serializing the manga in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 1997. As of June 2021, the series offers 99 tankōbon volumes compiling its individual chapters.
The story of One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body gained the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. With his crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” in order to become the next King of the Pirates.
