With Eichiro Oda’s One Piece manga soon rolling out the 100th volume, the franchise decided that time has come to relive some memories with Luffy and his crew! In collaboration with THE TOKYO MOBILITY GALLERY Canvas, 100 Tokyo taxis will zoom around displaying 100 famous panels of One piece in the entire city. This collaboration is for the celebration of the 99th and 100th volumes of the Weekly Shonen Jump manga series releasing this year.
The Glascene technology used by the company to display dynamic ads is a head-turner! It works like a normal window when there is nothing to display. It will look invisible to the naked eye. Yet, when a passenger enters, it changes to project an advertisement.
Apparently, the technology uses GPS data and the timing of the taxi request to determine what kind of advert to display. So if anyone boards from any of the otaku hubs of Akihabara or Nakano, they will get these One Piece Tokyo taxi advertisements. It’s an exciting new way to celebrate the series’ upcoming milestone releases!
As a matter of fact, Canvas has also released all the full range of panels that will be available as advertisements in the image below:
This collaboration starts on May 31, a few days before the 99th volume of One Piece going on sale in Japan on June 4. The 100th volume of One Piece is scheduled to be released later this year in Japan.
