Jujutsu Kaisen Fanbook Reveals Why Hakari Was Suspended

The Jujutsu Kaisen world is vast, both in characters and complexity. And Gege Akutami has thought through his characters in much depth, some of which can’t be brought out in the manga.

Hence, the newly-released Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook with Akutami’s answers about trivial details came as a blessing to all the readers. These details might be minute, but they help us understand the characters and universe much better.

A character that the fanbook addressed is a student of the Tokyo Tech school, Hakari. It is a welcome piece of information because we know very little about the third- and fourth-year students. If it slipped your mind who Hakari is, don’t worry. We got you!

Who is Hakari?

Hakari is a third-year student of Tokyo Tech school. His full name is Hakari Kinji, and he’s a gambler. He is one of the possible two third-years of the school.

In chapter 11 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo is talking to Ijichi when he mentions Hakari. Although it is a small mention of him, it is an important one.

According to Gojo, Hakari is one of the star students of his. He has the ability to be as good as Gojo someday. Hakari is also in the same league as Okkotsu Yuta, who has the unique ability of Rika.

Why was Hakari suspended?

Hakari was suspended because he beat up an old conservative. Beating up elders surely is a crime, even for Jujutsu Sorcerers.

According to the information given by Gege Akutami in the fanbook, Hakari was dispatched in the Parade of a Hundred Curses. It is possible that the Kyoto school was short on manpower; hence he went there as assistance at the frontlines.

BUUUT it did not go well. Hakari had a disagreement with an old-school conservative at Kyoto. And apparently, Hakari is not the type to hold back his emotions. In Akutami’s own words, Hakari beat the hell out of the conservative!

As of now, Hakari is suspended from school. But this information gives us hope that we may see him in action soon. Especially because after the Shibuya Incident, the whole Jujutsu world is in chaos.

This detail also gives us an insight into the fact that Gojo’s teaching is effective. He has the aspirations to create a new generation of shamans who are not afraid to be unconventional.

Since Gojo knew killing the higher-ups won’t root out the problem, he chose to be a teacher. Well, his students are following his ideologies. If that is in the right way or not….that is for Gojo to decide, we guess? 😛

Do you think we will see Hakari soon? Let us know in the comments!
