Boruto: Did Sumire Catch On To Amado’s Plans?

Chapter 55 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga has not only delivered a major blow but also hinted towards many future events. One of the biggest hints from the chapter is related to Amado.

When Amado is informed that Naruto, Sasuke, Boruto and Kawaki are back; he is seen muttering something to himself; or someone else and Sumire notices it.

Our experience of watching and reading various animangas tells us one thing: If a character is looking at someone through the sides of their eye, then there’s a reason for it!

Sumire found the scientist’s behaviour suspicious, as it was so out of character for him to do so.

Moreover, Amado only asks about Kawaki; meaning that Kawaki holds some importance in his life or his goal. Since Kawaki is a perfect vessel, he could be of great use to the former Kara inner.

Amado muttering

The cause of Amado’s strange behaviour could certainly be due to the position Konoha was in. Kawaki and the others were in Isshiki’s reach. And since he had no info about them whatsoever at that point, maybe was trying to forge a plan B.

Amado was shown to have a means of communicating with Delta and also controlling her; so could he be doing that over here? He does not seem to be aligned with Code at this point. The new big bad clearly branded Amado a traitor.

However, it is possible that Amado is looking to implant an artificial Karma seal on Kawaki. This doesn’t seem far-fetched to us anymore as Kawaki does have a Karma Skip in the flash-forward scene after the time skip.

Amado had all the time and resources in the world to research and understand Karma. So it is not beyond him to carry out such a feat. He may very well be planning to use Kawaki for his benefit and then get rid of Code; the final “Otsutsuki”.

By doing so he might be planning to gain some power in the current Shinobi World by establishing Kara’s dominance. After all, every member of the Kara seemed to have an ulterior motive beyond supporting Jigen/Isshiki.

As Sumire noticed the changes in Amado’s behaviour it could be possible that she caught on to, or atleast raised enough doubt in her to keep an eye on Amado. And since she belongs to the same field of work like him, i.e. Scientific tools development; it is possible that she might get more screen time in the coming arcs.

If Amado certainly is up to something sinister, she could be the key person who helps undo the knots. Maybe Kishimoto finally is working on the criticisms the series received from the start and giving side characters more prominence.

While we speculate that Amado is plotting something, it is completely possible that he isn’t, and that he was genuinely worried about Kawaki.

Amado has tried to reduce the number of deaths during the Karma experiments before, and it is not far-fetched to believe that Amado actually cares about Kawaki.

However, it is hard to tell what Amado was doing at this point, but we’re leaning towards him plotting something for now. Do you think Amado is plotting something? Let us know in the comments below and keep reading Boruto!
