All in all, Fairy Tail generally has a vibe of positivity and lightheartedness. If you like characters that seem cool, raw power, mc’s that overpower their enemies who rely on their friends and protect each other, then you should watch this show and I am sure you will enjoy it very much.

19. Black Lagoon

Black lagoon is a nonstop heart pounding, lead pumping thrill ride revolving around the scum of the earth. It is an anime that is not afraid to dive into the world of guns, drugs and human trafficking.

Enter Rokuro Okajima, a typical meek salaryman of a large corperation who’s the epitome of ordinary with a life so boring, bland, and not so envious with complains such as his boss kicking his ass, but his bleak life style comes to an end when a business trip cruise to South East Asia turns into hell as a group of modern day pirates take him hostage and gives him much more to complain about than just a kick to the bum.

However,as dubbed Koro-sensei also laid the condition that during Earth’s final year he plans to take up the mantle of teacher to the dead end class of delinquents with the goal of nurturing them not only into better students, but also better people.

It can easily be the modern version of a classic anime “Great Teacher Onizuka” where both the students and the audience get great motivation and inspirations from the various lessons.

17. Mirai Nikki

Studios: Asread

Mirai Nikki is a brilliant mix of a Psychological Thriller, Action, and Romance. Yuki is a boy who gains the ability to read the future through his personal diary, which is awesome until he finds out that there are 11 other people who also have their own diary’s and are his opponents in a competition to become a god. She also has a future diary, and it turns out she has a huge crush on Yuki, and is an insane psychopathic stalker, or Yandere if you will. The story follows these two as they try to survive in the killing game they’ve been placed in.

Too many characters with interesting backstories which gives this series a level up to be one of the top animes on Netflix.

16. Haikyuu!!

The anime revolves around Karasuno’s journey from a foreign power house to gritty underdogs and eventually giant killers. A series to inspire and make you fall in love with sports anime. Being a superfan, I am so glad Netflix India has made Haikyuu!! available here!

The reason that makes Dr. Stone unique even though its a typical shounen is the curiousity that it creates without showing enough fighting scenes but instead working towards them making near-miracles. It is just so satisfying to see Senku’s world building as the story of the real world.

14. Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

KonoSuba spews out pure joys and rainbows. With other shows telling great stories or exploring philosophy and other themes, Konosuba ignores all that and focuses on pure entertainment!

13. Overlord

Studios: Madhouse

Continuing the isekai train, we have Overlord that adapts the first 3 novels of Kugane Maruyama light novel series of the same title. A vast cast of unique characters with MMORPG gaming concept, it is a treat.

Overlord, as the rank itself, was an outstanding rank to symbolize the tremendous power of the user. Unfortunately, the rank failed to save Momonga from trapped in a world of fantasy game, thus there is only one thing that you can do. Time for some real action. He himself will pass the judgments upon Yggdrasil. Which future will Momonga bring? A bright future filled with joy or a living hell full of horrors, pain, anguish, and punishment. Regarded as the highest of the Almighty 41 Supreme Beings of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. This is the right time to conquer Yggdrasil, a world of fantasy games. Anyone who tried to resist or oppose him shall face the ultimate humiliation and loss, to suffer for eternally.

12. One Punch Man

Studios: Madhouse

It is a show that likes to make fun of itself. As the self explanatory title goes, Saitama, after losing all his hair training vigorously for three years can end any evildoers with only one punch. But this has led to an unexpected problem- he is longer able to enjoy the thrill of battling and has become quite bored. Also, when he and his sidekick Genos goes to the Hero Association, no one acknowledges his power. Thus starts the action comedy of an eccentric individual who longs to fight strong enemies and become popular in the process.

11. Re:Zero

Studios: White Fox

Even though we have seen tons of protagonists like Subaru in the other isekais, White fox tried to include all the good elements from the other genres and paired it up with huge selection of waifus and plot twists.

The show begins with our protagonist Natsuki Subaru getting suddenly transported to a fantasy world after leaving a convenience store. Being an otaku who has probably dreamed about something like this happening to him for years, Subaru is naturally excited to be in this new world. However, to his dismay, Subaru quickly learns that he doesn’t have any special abilities or powers. He encounters the beautiful half elf Emilia when she saves him from a group of thugs. Thus the two of them start their adventure. This beginning seems quite clichéd, however everything changes dramatically when Subaru soon finds himself dead.

10. Demon Slayer

Studios: ufotable

Demon Slayer is ufotable’s first project and they have turned the show into a work of art! And finally we have a protagonist with a genuine end goal- PROTECC THE IMOUTO!

The story begins with our MC Tanjiro Kamadao coming home one day to find out his family is brutally slaughtered by demons. Only one of his sister survived, who herself turned into a bloodthirsty demon. So begins Tanjiro’s quest to become a demon hunter to find a cure for his little sister and protect others from the same tragedy that had befallen him.

9. My Hero Academia

Studio: Bones

Since Izuku Midoria was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. As typical as the premise sounds in Boku no Hero Academia, the level of entertainment is insane that will get you hooked to these quirky kids. Each characters are super fun and the arcs reveal quite some promising emotions which will end up sending you the central theme “ anyone can be a hero”

8. Bleach

Studios: Studio Peirrot

Bleach like it or not is an anime which became a stepping stone for the modern day shounens that we watch.

Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high schooler—until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a corrupt spirit that seeks to devour human souls. It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who gets injured while protecting Ichigo’s family from the assailant. To save his family, Ichigo accepts Rukia’s offer of taking her powers and becomes a Soul Reaper as a result. As Ichigo and his comrades get used to their new duties and support each other on and off the battlefield, the young Soul Reaper soon learns that the Hollows are not the only real threat to the human world.

This series is renowned for its animation and epic fighting scenes starting from 2010 till this day. The story is well paced and the theme is profoundly thought out. So visually this anime is a masterpiece. Among the Big Three- One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, this one is overlooked by many. If you love genuine anime, tune it on Netflix India and enjoy endless streaming action!

7. Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure

Studios: David Production

The manga started in 1987 and is going strong till today. It is a modern day epic that tells the saga of the Joestar family line starting in the 18th century and going on till 20 and 21st centuries. Each “parts” focuses on a different protagonist with Joestar blood who is nicknamed “Jojo”.

Each part has different character motivations and settings. It is a combination of elements that are amazingly stylized, a bit predictable but again amazingly enjoyable.

6. Gintama

Studios: Sunrise

Of course this series will be in the Top 15 animes of Netflix for my Indian anilovers! Good taste.

The Amanto, aliens from outer space, have invaded Earth and taken over feudal Japan prohibiting samurai and their swords. However one man, Gintoki Sakata, who loves sweets and works as a freelancer of odd jobs, still possesses the heart of the samurai. Accompanying him in his jack-of-all-trades line of work are Shinpachi Shimura, a boy with glasses and a strong heart, Kagura with her umbrella and seemingly bottomless stomach, as well as Sadaharu, their oversized pet dog. Of course, these odd jobs are not always simple, as they frequently have run-ins with the police, ragtag rebels, and assassins, oftentimes leading to humorous but unfortunate consequences.

Now you may ask, what is so great about an anime with an insane amount of air time making jokes about random body parts, mayonnaise and poop? The answer you seek is not in its “edo samurai-meets-alien” setting because it’s the least exciting part of Gintama. It is an anime popular for its trashy jokes about toilets, bodily functions and anything random. It may not be in the same league as Naruto or One Piece, but Gintama has a maddening cult following that rivals these Shounen greats!

5. Code Geass

Studios: Sunrise

The story is based on Area 11, formerly known as Japan which was defeated by the holy Britannian Empire. Lelouch, former prince 14th in line, had been disowned by his father and went into hiding as a protagonist, with his blind sister somewhere in Area 11. But accidentally, he gets involved in a terrorist plot that leads him to meet the mysterious woman named C.C. who gives him the power of “Geass” – to speak one command and have anyone he makes eye contact with obey him.

This brilliant show builds up with every episode to a giant chess game. Tons of cliffhangers at the end of each episode will keep you glued until the season ends.

4. Hunter x Hunter

Studios: Nippon Animation

HxH is about a young boy named Gon who embarks on a journey to find his father. After learning that his father left him at a young age to become a Hunter, Gon decides to follow in his footsteps not only to find him, but also to see what was so special about the profession that made his father choose it over him.

You may ask, that its like the other giants like Naruto and Fairy Tail, but Hunter x Hunter boasts one of the finest writing in the world of shonen; the depth and flow of the story, enthralling characterizations, strong dialogue and impressive world-building are all crafted into a fascinating tale that can absorb viewers into lengthy marathons.

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion

Studios: Gainax, Tatsunoko Production

In a pre apocalyptic alternate universe the world of Evangelion is under constant threat from “Angels’‘- mysterious beings that appear out of nowhere with the intention of destroying the human world . An organisation called “Nerv” and a collection of giant robots known as “ Evangelion” intends to fight the oncoming threat. The pilots for these Eva’s are specially trained 14 year old children who must save the planet or its gonna lead to the “third impact”.

The series is a great example of realizing the value of being humane, a coming of age story including mind blowing actions that works for both adults and teenagers.

2. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Studios: Bones

Reigned for years as the top rated anime of all time on MAL.It is known to be one of the greatest anime of the modern era. Good thing Netflix India made it available to all.

Alchemy is bound by the Law of Equivalent Exchange– something the young brothers Edward Elric and Alphonse only realize after attempting Human transmutation: the only forbidden act of alchemy. The price they pay is Edward’s right hand and left leg and Alphonse’s physical body. The hope of eventually getting their original bodies back is the only inspiration that drives Edward to become a Fullmetal Alchemist.

The narrative is tightly woven web of secrets, conspiracies and twists that’s a delight to watch unravel. It’s thrilling, thought provoking and moving all at once without stumbling or slowing down.

1. Steins;Gate

Studios: White Fox

Steins Gate is an anime about time travel instead of a story just involving time travel. Mad scientist Rintarou Okabe and his lab members pass time by tinkering with their most promising contraption, “Phone microwave”, which performs the strange function of morphing bananas into green gel. Though the phenomenon doesnt look promising, until the lab members are drawn into action by a string of mysterious happenings and stumbling upon an unexpected success- the Phone microwave can send emails to the past, altering the flow of history.

As time travel is only a theory and not something that has scientifically proven; therefore there are many versions of time travel in scientific literature.Steins Gate here uses a combination of the Butterfly effect theory and the theory by John Titor. Thus not only is this anime a mind boggling one, it also has some favourite voice actors like Mamoru Miyano and Kana Hanazawa voicing some unique characters that will stay with you forever.

Yeah, so that’s all folks! I hope senpai was of help. If you want to add some of your own, shy not! Go ahead and comment down below! Mata ne ^-^
