Quintessential Quintuplets Second Season Releasing On January 6, 2021

The official website for Gotōbun no Hanayome viz. The Quintessential Quintuplets the series’ second anime season reveals a promotional video. The video reveals the second seasons’ airing date as of January 7 at 1:28 a.m. JST. It will first air on TBS. Later it will air on Sun TV and BS11 on January 8. The following apps and sites will stream the anime on GyaO!, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Hulu, and AbemaTV. The video previews the song “Gotōbun no Katachi” sung by the quintuplets.

Kaori is replacing Satoshi Kuwabara as the director of the new season. Keiichirō Ōchi is reprising his role for scripting. Bibury Animation Studio is replacing Tezuka Productions as animators of the second season. Masato Katsumata (Azur Lane assistant animation director) is heading the character designs and serving as chief animation director. Hanae Nakamura and Miki Sakurai are reprising their role as music composers.

The first season of Quintessential Quintuplets had aired in January 2019 and it received a positive response from the fanbase prompting TBS to renew the show for a second season. The cast from the first season will be returning for the second season too. It will be directed by Kaori and animated by Bibury Animation Studio.

Illustrated and created by Negi Haruba, the series follows the daily life of a high school student Futaro Uesugi who is hired as a private tutor for a group of quintuplets who perform poorly academically.

The manga was launched in Kodansha’s weekly shonen magazine in August 2017 and has been collected into 13 tankobon volumes as of January 2020.
