Masashi Kishimoto To Take Over Boruto’s Scriptwriting Duties

As of chapter 52 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, which is slated to release on November 21st in the December issue of V Jump, Ukyo Kodachi will no longer be the scriptwriter. The responsibility will be taken over by creator Masashi Kishimoto. Ikemoto will continue to be the illustrator of the series.

An official tweet from the editorial staff account of Boruto series revealed this information. Kishimoto had been serving as a supervisor for the Boruto series till now.

Kodachi posted a statement on Twitter regarding this news. He thanked everyone for their support and said that he had a great experience working on the script of Boruto since the movie released. He added that he will be looking forward to the series as a reader.

Kodachi, a novelist, has written adaptations of various sci-fi anime and video games, as well as screenplays, notably for the Macross, Gundam, and Code Geass series. He wrote the novel adaptation of Boruto: Naruto the Movie and collaborated with Kishimoto to write the screenplay of the movie. He also supervised the anime adaptation of Boruto. Kodachi has written the script for 13 volumes of the manga.

Boruto manga was serialised monthly in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since May 2016. It was later transferred to Shueisha’s monthly magazine V Jump in July 2019. Boruto is a spin-off and a sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto, which follows the exploits of Naruto Uzumaki’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, and his ninja team.
