Kimetsu No Yaiba Mugen Train Movie Earns Over 4 Billion Yen in Three Days

Kimetsu No Yaiba Mugen Train Movie has broken Box office records by earning over 4 Billion Yen in Japanese Theatres. The movie has collected a total of ¥4,623,117,450 in only 3 days. 3,420,493 tickets were sold in these 3 days, breaking attendance records.

Over 1,000,000 people attended the screening on Saturday. This again happened on Sunday which gave the top 3 spots for one-day attendance in Japan to Kimetsu no Yaiba movie, including its attendance of Friday.

The very first day, Friday (Oct 16th), of the movie’s release earned a total of ¥1,268,724,700 with 910,507 admissions. The Second Day, Saturday (Oct 17th), recorded an earning of ¥1,701,723,350 with  1,270,234 admissions which were around a 34% increase from that of the first day. The 3rd day of screening, Sunday (Oct 18th), earned a total of ¥1,652,669,400 with 1,239,752 admissions.

This easily made it the biggest three-day opening weekend ever, and the biggest two day-opening weekend in Japanese box office history. Weathering with You,  last year’s biggest anime film,  opened to 1.5 billion yen (US$15.22 million) over the first three-day weekend, and only reached 4.6 billion yen (US$43.8 million) in the third week of release.

The full attendance over the weekend was 3,424,930 people, which more than doubles Frozen II’s opening weekend record-breaking attendance last year, Oricon reported.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train still continues to smash record after record through the Japanese box office. Fans are wondering how far will this movie go concerning the highest-grossing list. But considering the groundbreaking phenomenon of the first weekend’s earning, and the current state of the world, it’ll be difficult to determine. Still, it’s safe to say the movie will cross the 10 billion yen (US$94.8 million) mark without any difficulties.
