New PV For Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu (A Whisker Away) Reveals Additional Cast

The official website for Nakitai Watashi Wa Neko O Kaburu (A Whisker Away) released a PV for the movie which revealed additional cast and staff. The video depicts the cat world as seen through the eyes of the titular character Miyo “Muge” Sasaki.

It was previously revealed that Mirai Shida (Arriety in The Secret World of Arriety & Mellisa Shields in My Hero Academia) will be voicing Miyo Sasaki while Natsuke Hanae (Tanjirou Kamado in Demon Slayer) will be voicing Kento Hinode.

The new PV revealed that  Kinako, Kaoru Mizutani’s cat who lives in the same house as Muge will be voiced by Eri Kitamura, while Kakinuma, a cool and composed cat who lives in the secret “Nekojima” world of the cats will be voiced by Shinichiro Miki. Oolongta Yoshida and Fukushi Ochiai join the cast as voice actors for the cats that Muge encounters.

The movie, co-directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama is about finding one’s true self. It follows Miyo “Muge” Sasaki, a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Hinode every day, but he takes no notice of her. One day she finds a magical mask which transforms her into a cat named Taro, letting her get close to Hinode, however, the mask would one day make it unable for her to transform back into a human.

In the latest video, a cat storekeeper who gave Muge the mask to transform into a cat whispers sweetly that she would be happy most of the time if she becomes a cat. After transforming into a cat Muge feels comfortable as she gets to be closer to Hinode.

However, things change when she enters the cat world where the cats can’t see the humans. At the end of the video the cat storekeeper approaches Muge, barring his nails and with a nasty expression on his face.

The cat storekeeper will be voiced by Koichi Yamadera.

A whisker away movie premieres on Netflix worldwide on June 18th 2020.
