Haikyuu! To The Top Season Four’s Second Cour Delayed Due To Coronavirus

The official website of Haikyuu! To The Top announced that the second cour of the fourth season of the anime will be delayed due to the effects of COVID-19. The second part of season 4 was set to premiere on July 2020. 

Apologizing for the inconvenience, the production committee of the anime stated that they will be giving more consideration to the safety measures against the novel coronavirus and proceed carefully with production activities. A new release date will be announced on the website once it has been decided. 

The first half of Haikyuu!To The Top Season 4, which consisted of Episodes 1- 13, was broadcast between January 10 to April 3. The second cour of the anime will consist of Episode 14-25. All four seasons of Haikyuu was streamed simultaneously on Crunchyroll as the anime aired on Japan.

Based on Haruichi Furudate’s manga, Haikyuu follows Junior high school student Shōyō Hinata, who becomes obsessed with volleyball after catching a glimpse of Karasuno High School winning their game to qualify for Nationals on TV. Of short stature himself, Hinata is inspired by a player the commentators nickname ‘The Little Giant’, Karasuno’s short but talented wing spiker.

Production I.G handled the anime adaptation of the manga which has been serialized in  Weekly Shōnen Jump since February 2012. The series was initially published as a one-shot in Shueisha’s seasonal Jump NEXT! magazine prior to serialization. As of March 2020, forty-two tankōbon volumes have been released in Japan by Shueisha.
