The broadcast of Food Wars! The Fifth Plate (Shokugeki no Soma: Gou no Sara) has been delayed further to July 2020 due to the ongoing COVID_19 emergency in Japan.
The official website of Food wars anime announced that the fifth season of the series which was set to air originally in April 2020 will now be broadcast after July 2020. Only the first two episodes of the anime were broadcast, before it went into a hiatus due to the novel coronavirus situation in Japan.
The information regarding the new broadcast date and time will be announced when it will be finalized by the producers. As a placeholder, the fourth season of Food Wars will be re-broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS 11 in Japan.
Written by Yūto Tsukuda and Illustrated by Shun Saeki, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from November 2012 and concluded in June 2019. An anime adaptation by J.C.Staff began airing in April 2015.
The series is set mainly at Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an elite culinary school located in Tokyo, Japan, and follows teenager Soma Yukihira aspires to become a full-time chef in his father Joichiro’s family restaurant and surpass his father’s culinary skills.
